Top award for Yorkshire composites manufacturing firm

Marshall Advanced Composites has been named Aerospace Company of the Year in the Corporate Live Wire North England Prestige Awards 2020.

The awards recognise independent businesses that ‘are extremely successful and hardworking on a local level’.

General Manager, Carl Morse, said:

“We are absolutely delighted and proud to have achieved this recognition.

“Everyone here works extremely hard for our customers and the camaraderie in the team is outstanding. We have been active as a business and as a community employer for many years, and see ourselves very much as an industry-leading Yorkshire business operating in a larger national and international group, so this means a lot to us.”

Marshall Advanced Composites supports civil and military aerospace customers with a broad range of composite engineering solutions designed to maximise and enhance the capabilities of the platform, whether new, upgraded or modified.

The company has won a number of significant new contracts this year, with customers including BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, Honeywell and GE Dowty.

It is also working with Sharing in Growth, which awarded a £900K grant to help develop ‘world class’ manufacturing processes.

The company was deemed to be an essential business supporting the defence industry, and continued to support customers throughout lockdown, while adhering to strict social distancing guidelines.

It has also used its specialised tooling equipment to manufacture and donate free of charge 10,000 face visors to local frontline workers in healthcare, education and community-supporting business locally.

The national and international Prestige awards have been running for 16 years under the Corporate Live Wire and LTG business platforms, with regional awards added in 2018 to recognise smaller, independent businesses. The awards are adjudicated by a panel of industry expert judges who ultimately pick a winner.

Among the judging criteria is publicly sourced information, such as reviews, testimonials and information provided on the company’s website and social media platforms.

An awards presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place in Newcastle later this year, if Covid-19 measures permit.
