Creating a Legacy

Marshall, the private group headquartered in Cambridge, will be marking the centenary of its prestigious apprenticeship programme with the launch of Marshall Centre, part of its ongoing commitment to the development of generations of existing and new employees to help them achieve their full potential.

Over the past 100 years, Marshall, through its Aerospace and Defence, Motor Retail and Fleet Solutions businesses has helped some twenty thousand young people to complete their apprenticeships, equipping them for careers within the automotive and engineering sectors.

Marshall Apprentices are widely recognised as being amongst the best in the business and this was borne out last year when former Marshall Aerospace and Defence apprentice Haydn Jakes beat competition from across the world to win Gold at the World Skills Championships in Russia.

The establishment of the new Marshall Centre will provide even more opportunities, extending the range of courses on offer to include degrees, professional management training and education as well as a host of other accredited qualifications within aviation and other industries.

Kathy Jenkins, Chief Operating Officer of Marshall of Cambridge (Holdings) Ltd commented: “We are incredibly proud to have had a continuous annual intake of apprentices here at Marshall for 100 years now. Throughout this time, our apprentices have played a fundamental role in getting the business to where it is today.

“Many have gone on to enjoy hugely successful careers within our businesses and we will continue to give apprentices the best possible insight and opportunities within our exciting and dynamic workplace, which will set them up for the future of lifelong learning.

“With the launch of the Marshall Centre we will be able to build on the legacy we have created over the past 100 years and ensure we continue to provide more world-class learning opportunities than ever before.”

Marshall Centre will continue to offer its market-leading four-year apprenticeships in aerospace engineering and administration, together with EASA-approved courses and other regulatory training for civil and military organisations.

General Manager Dan Edwards comments: “The Marshall apprenticeship scheme is renowned throughout the industry and places are always hotly contested by young people around the country. 2020 looks like being no exception as applications have been flooding in ahead of our deadline on 7th February.

“At the same time we are getting lots of interest from businesses keen to make the most efficient use of the apprenticeship levy that they have already paid through our range of professional and business training courses”.
