Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Update - 24th March

As promised in my note to you all on Friday, I thought it might help to drop you a short update on our Covid-19 actions, particularly in light of the Prime Minister’s statement yesterday evening.

As you would expect, each of our businesses are making further changes to their working practices to comply with the new regulations. I want to assure you, however, that, alongside doing what we can to protect the future of the business, our absolute focus remains on the health and well-being of our hardworking and valuable employees (and their families) as well as our important customers and suppliers.

As you may have seen, Marshall Motor Group has closed all of its showrooms to new customers
overnight and its teams are currently on site clearing the backlog of work in the service workshops and delivering cars where possible. Beyond that, Daksh and his team are looking to how they can provide important aftersales support to key workers as part of the national effort to tackle coronavirus.

Marshall Fleet Solutions is extremely busy supporting our very many customers involved in the
distribution of essential supplies and food. All those who can work from home are now doing so in support of our front line engineers out on the road.

Our Marshall Group Properties team is working with its joint-venture partner, Hill, to review all the advice from government in relation to construction sites. In the meantime, the marketing suite on site at Marleigh has been closed.

In Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, we are working closely with each of our customers for a definitive view, contract-by-contract, as to which fall into the critical/essential category. In the meantime, we are continuing to make arrangements for even more employees to work from home. This figure is now in excess of 700 across the business.

You will appreciate that this continues to develop on a daily basis and we will have to remain agile in our response. I will update you again once everything is more settled.

In the meantime, I am sure you will all be pleased to hear that we are continuing to work with some of our customers and with other parties to find ways in which we can make further positive contributions to the national effort. This builds on the long and proud tradition of serving the Nation in times of crisis which David Marshall and successive generations have ensured is at the heart of our DNA as a private company. This is also, however, an evolving picture and we will let you know as/when any of these come to fruition.

Best wishes,

Alex Dorrian CBE
Executive Chairman
