The company was founded in 1978 by John Varley and his co-director. He retired when Marshall purchased the company on 1st October 2001.

Geographically its engineers and depots cover an area from Manchester in the North to Oxfordshire and the home countries in the South. Together with its arrangements with fellow agents the company is able to offer a complete nationwide service, all of which is controlled by VTR central control.
