Marshall Vehicle Engineering (MVE)

Marshall Vehicle Engineering’s (MVE) core skill is providing defence and security vehicle engineering. Established in 2006 to provide these solutions to the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence, more recently it has been providing solutions to companies across the globe.

Its capabilities have been developed from the early days of the Marshall Group during the First World War. Since then the company has produced over 110,000 integrated vehicle solutions including load beds, flat racks, cargo systems and vehicle based shelter systems.

Today this heritage is vested in MVE, a leading supplier to vehicle manufacturers such as Rhinemetal MAN Military Vehicles, Iveco, Thales, Force Protection and other global manufacturers.

MVE's speciality is to take a vehicle chassis and driver’s cab and complete the vehicle so that it is fit for specific roles or functions. This may include designing and producing load beds, trays, flat racks, fitting armour or riot protection equipment, selecting and designing the fit for vehicle cranes and tail lifts together with the project management expertise to manage programmes of over 6,700 vehicles or one off requirements and provision of Through Life Capability Management.

As part of the design and manufacturing process MVE offers:

  • Engineering, design, development and manufacture of military loadbeds, trays and flat racks
  • Vehicle mounted sub-systems e.g. cranes and tail lifts
  • Tie down schemes for equipment, vehicles, engineering plant and containers / shelters
  • Technical and ILS publications, Safety Cases, Human Factors assessments
  • Through Life Support including spares and obsolescence management
  • Welding, E-Dipping, Painting and Waxing

MVE is the design authority, manufacturer and integrator of the load beds for the UK MOD’s Support Vehicle programme. This project involves over 6,700 cargo vehicles, 11 different types of load bed installed on four different chassis configurations in three payload categories in medium and improved mobility classes. All the loadbeds can be fitted with dropsides and cargo kits which have been designed and validated by MVE.

MVE's expertise extends into fitting tail lifts, cranes and winches to military specification vehicles. This encompasses selection, verification and validation, managing the safety case, and solving any EMC compatibility issues. The company has been responsible specifically for the fit of cranes and tail lifts for the MOD’s Support Vehicle.

But it is not just for the Support Vehicle that MVE has provided vehicle engineering support. The company has designed the loadbeds for the Thales Bushmaster Utility Variant, the Iveco Light Multirole Vehicles (LMV) both the 2 and 4 man cab variants and the Renault Sherpa Light Carrier vehicle. MVE has also worked with Ricardo and Force Protection Europe to produce the Wolfhound and Ocelot Utility Vehicle loadbeds.

Marshall Land Systems' companies have a reputation for delivering Urgent Operational Requirements quickly, to budget and to quality. Reflecting this MVE delivered over 80 loadbeds for the Wolfhound Tactical Support Vehicle in less than three months.
